Our Internal Guidance System: Three Instincts

$80.00 or $140.00 per couple

Everyone has three instincts: Self Preservation, Caring, and Passion/Creativity. Which instinct is dominant in you and which gets short shrift? Investigating this is the purpose of this workshop. Couple conflicts usually happen because of differences in their dominant instinct. Recognizing this pattern supports not taking different choices so personally, whether between partners or friends. Perhaps, most essentially, this understanding can support compassion with ourselves, while opening us to new options.

Because this instinctual theory comes from the Enneagram personality system, it is helpful to know your position on the Enneagram map before coming to the workshop. A brief introduction to the Enneagram will be held the afternoon before the Saturday workshop.

Lunch will be on site. Soup, salad and bread will be provided. Participants are asked to bring a dish to add variety to the table.

Lynne Parsons Psy.D., was certified to teach the Enneagram by Helen Palmer and David Daniels, leading authors and presenters of the system in l999. She teaches in the narrative tradition, meaning that the workshop is based on participant interaction. In 2002 she created an audio CD introducing the nine positions on the Enneagram: Nine Boats: Tales From The Enneagram. It is available from Amazon.com or directly from Lynne and may be a valuable tool for referencing your Enneagram position prior to the workshop as well.

Introduction to the Enneagram

$40.00 per person. Fee includes the book, The Essential Enneagram by David Daniels. It will be mailed to you prior to the workshop.

This four hour workshop will introduce you to the insightful personality system known as the Enneagram. Through a series of activities, participants will investigate where their attention habitually goes and compare this with the map of the nine tendencies in the Enneagram. What makes this fun is that we are all in this together since the Enneagram describes a circle of possibilities, none better or worse. The idea of course, is that knowledge is power and knowing our habitual drift allows for more choices.
